Nexus - MVP test

StackwellCo - For indie SaaS on Stripe (no MoR)

Stripe Tax != filed.

Stripe Tax can calculate and collect. It does not register you, file returns, or remit. If you sell across borders or US states without a Merchant of Record, thresholds can sneak up while the dashboard still looks fine.

Disclaimer (read this first). Nexus is a threshold visibility tool. It is not tax advice, not a determination of your obligations, and not a filing or remittance service. Proximity bands compare the markets you declare to published public reference figures - they are illustrative, incomplete, and can be wrong or outdated. Confirm everything with a CPA or tax counsel. If you want someone else to own filing, consider a Merchant of Record (e.g. Paddle, Lemon Squeezy) - we are not affiliated with them.

What founders miss

Many early SaaS teams turn on Stripe Tax and assume compliance is handled. Collection != filing.

The unpaid job before the cliff is simple: know which jurisdictions you're approaching - so you can talk to a CPA or switch to MoR before a notice, not after.

We do not scare-quote penalty amounts. Cliffs are real; your situation is specific. This page exists to make the Stripe-vs-filed distinction obvious and give you a proximity read on the markets you declare.

What Nexus does in this test

  1. You tell us last-12-month revenue mix (manual form now; optional Stripe CSV).
  2. You note where you're already registered and whether Stripe Tax / MoR are on.
  3. You get a static proximity report for EU VAT distance narrative + a small fixed set of common US economic-nexus states - illustrative bands like Below reference / Approaching reference / At or past published reference (never a legal determination).
  4. Sources on the report are public threshold references. You still verify with a CPA.

What Nexus does not do

  • Register you anywhere
  • File or remit taxes
  • Give legal determinations
  • Replace a CPA, Avalara/TaxJar-class filer, or MoR
  • "Keep you compliant"

If you only want filing done for you, this is the wrong product - use a MoR or a filing partner.

Check your proximity

Manual path ships first. Optional CSV: flexible Stripe Balance/Payments-style export with country/state + amount columns (aliases accepted: country, shipping_address_country, state, amount, gross, etc.). No Stripe OAuth.

One region per line: STATE_OR_COUNTRY amount. EU lines roll into the illustrative OSS EUR10k context. Figures are what you declare - we do not verify.

By submitting you acknowledge this is visibility only - not tax advice, not a filing.

How it works

  1. Declare markets - paste revenue by country/state (or upload CSV).
  2. We map proximity - illustrative bands vs public threshold references for EU VAT + a short US nexus list.
  3. You decide next step - CPA, MoR, or keep watching. We do not file anything.

Report banner (always): Not a determination. Not tax advice. Not a filing.

Who it's for / not for

For: Solo or small SaaS on Stripe without MoR, selling internationally or multi-state US, who want early warning - not another dashboard toy.

Not for: Pure domestic micro-SaaS with no nexus path; teams already happy on MoR; anyone who needs "just file it for me" as v1.

Soft close

If Stripe Tax made you feel done, you're not alone - that product boundary is easy to miss. Nexus is a small, honest proximity check so you can act early.
